Lessons for all ages and levels on proven, quiet, well schooled horses & ponies.
Julie Harris has been teaching riding for over 30 years and teaches riding using classical methods handed down through the centuries, by riding masters who advocate patience, tact, softness, and harmony in training the horse. Specializing in dressage she teaches a balanced seat which allows the rider to advance in any discipline of riding, whether it be english or western.
Julie Harris began riding as a very young girl. She began her riding career in hunter/jumper which gave her a good riding foundation, but left her looking for a method of training in a harmonious fashion that she saw in classical riding. Julie attended Lake Erie College in Ohio and then Morven Park International Equestrian Center in Leesburg, Va. It was at Morven Park, under the direction of Major John Lynch, that she found the introduction to dressage and the classical art of training she had been seeking. She graduated in the top three of her class and remained at Morven Park as an instructor for a year before starting her own riding school in 1979. Since then she has taught many to ride, some going on to compete but many others to ride for the pleasure and challenge of developing a horse. She has continued her own education by riding in many clinics with some of the foremost instructors in the east but attributes her major training to Walter Zettl, a classical master residing in Canada.
Currently Julie is working from Twin Spruce Farm in Accord, NY while building her own facility, Crystal Creek Equestrian Center, in nearby Kerhonkson .
